Boston Terriers have strong, friendly personalities. Bostons can range in temperaments from those that are eager to please their master to those that are more stubborn.

While originally bred for fighting, they were later down bred for companionship. The modern Boston Terrier can be gentle, alert, expressive, and well-mannered. The name Boston Terrier is something of a misnomer since they were originally a cross-breed between the Old English Bulldog and the English White Terrier.

Since they have been bred for companionship they enjoy being around people. Which makes them extrodanary pets for people who have children. They are usually a quiet breed not known for their barking however they they usually bark if something strange is entering their domain, making them very useful in alerting if an intruder is on the prowl.
